Thunder Eggs

As most of you already know Thunder eggs are by far one of my favorite rocks. Since I am starting to get a small collection I thought that I would share a few of my personal favorites.

For those of you that are not familiar with Thunder eggs, they are a nodule that usually has a Rhyolite shell with either common Opal, Chalcedony, or Jasper. Thunder eggs are very abundant here in Idaho and especially Oregon. I would have to say that some of the best thundereggs come from Central Oregon and New Mexico, have to add the Baker Ranch thundereggs in here. If you would like to find out more information on Thunder eggs or by there correct term Lithophysae which mean rock bubble in Latin. The Geode Kid which runs the Baker Ranch thunder egg mine has a wealth of information on how to find your own and how they form.

Well here is the start of my Thunder Egg photo gallery, hope you like it and as I obtain more they will be added.
