Yesterday, John and I had made plans to get together and cut and polish some rocks that we had collected at Hog Creek last week.
Well I arrived at Johns at about Noon on Sunday for a fun filled day of Lapidary Work. I have never really used any Lapidary Saws or Polisher before yesterday and I’m hooked. John has a 10″ Highland Park Lapidary Saw I think that was the brand. He also has a polishing unit which I have no clue what it is called or the brand but it made short work out of the rocks that I know.
John was nice enough to let me go to town on my 5 gallon bucket of Hog Creek agate nodules and geodes that I had collected the week before. While I was cutting he was polishing a couple of pieces that he was working on.
Well after a few hours of cutting and feeling like it was an endless supply of Christmas presents it was time to take a break. Johns wife was nice enough to run to the store and get us a soda to drink and cool down as it was nearly 80 degrees out “The hottest day of the year so far”. As we were relaxing Johns dogs had opened the gate to the fence and started to run around the neighborhood so we stopped for about 20 minutes and rounded them up. It was a nice chance to stop and let the equipment cool down as the saw had been running non stop for at least 3 hours at this point.
Well it was about 4 in the afternoon and it was time to fire up the equipment again an start cutting some more. I just about cut every piece that I had collected and it was time to let John use his own equipment. John had gone over to Succor Creek Oregon area on Saturday and collected a small bucket of Thundereggs and he was eager to cut them. So I thought that I would give his polishing equipment a try and polish up some of my best specimens.
I polished about 10 specimens and man did it take a while. Before I realized it it was almost 7 at night. Where did the day go as it went way to fast. I wish work went that fast. Well I would like to again thank John for being nice enough to let me use his equipment and making me feel like a kid all over again.
Here are a few of the pieces that were cut yesterday. Sorry for the quality of the photographs as it was overcast and they did not turn out as well as they could have.

1Dear Jason : thanks for your report ; we really enjoyed it a lot, and learned something new.
About saw-blade; we tried almost every brand except Hiland Park !
We noticed that almost every saw-blade was made in Asian Countries , and we tried hard to get saws made in the US , but were not able to find this. Our experience with saw blades made in Asia was really bad , because they don“t last long enough, and prices are not precisely low.
Please , let us know about US made sintered saw blades , if you have any idea.
Thanks a lot!

First off sorry it took me so long to respond to your comment. I have admired your website and agates for a long time. I am a member of RTH and have seen some of your stuff posted there as well. I am jealous of the material you have down there.
I would have to say that I am having very good luck with a cheap green blade that I bought off of eBay from seller BUTW lapidary.
Thanks again for contacting me and drop by again I promise I will respond a lot quicker.
