I’m Jason and this site is about rockhounding and my wild adventures collecting rocks and gems in the beautiful states of Idaho and Oregon. I just recently started collecting again. As a child and teen I spent every second that I was outside picking up rocks and going on trips with family and friends collecting treasures around here in Idaho.
 
 
Now that I have a family of my own I figured it was time to introduce my children to the pleasures of rock collecting. So I decided to join a rock club. The first thing I did was googled “rock and gem clubs Idaho” I came across the Owyhee Gem and Mineral Society and decided to go and see what they were about. Well first of all the first thing I noticed was that 80% of the members were quite a bit older, no big deal I figure knowledge comes with age. After attending a few meetings I decided to become a member. The great thing about joining a club is they usually go on monthly field trips that will point you in the right direction on were to find the good stuff.
 
 
So all in all this site will have articles of my monthly field trips with the Owyhee Mineral Society and places I go on my own. I will also be writing articles on my favorite and interesting places around the country and on the net.
